We will miss you Uncle George. Your smile, your laugh, your jokes, your unconditional love for everyone. You touched the hearts of everyone you met. "It is what it is" and "one day at a time". Lots of love from Laureen, Stephen , Max and Natalia

It is with a saddened heart that I mourn the passing of my Uncle George. Uncle George had a huge heart and a generous spirit. I have such wonderful memories going back to when I was a child and visiting my Baba and Guido and Uncle George on the farm. Uncle George always spoke to us nieces and nephews as equals and truly enjoyed all that was going on in our lives. As we grew up and began our own families Uncle George always wanted to know how everyone was doing, he actively listened when you talked and even though the visits were less often, you always felt connected to him. Uncle George loved giving you "A Big Hug" every time you met and every time you said goodbye. When Uncle George was still living on the farm he would often speak as eloquently about his cows as he did about his neighbours. Not to dismiss his neighbours, but because he also valued what made his farm a success. After Baba passed away, Uncle George sold the farm and moved to Cold Lake. This next stage of Uncle George's life away from the farm was like watching a flower bloom in the sun, to say that he was a happy man is such an understatement. He loved us nieces and nephews as if we were his own children, but now he had the love of Henri and his heart was full. On behalf of my husband Fred, children Kyle, Katrina/Alex and Natasha we will all miss him, but are grateful that he is not suffering and that in his way he is back with Henri.

Condolences to all of George's "kids" as I reflect on the great friend I found in my Ukrainian buddy. Growing up in a Ukrainian community (even though I don't share that ancestry), I feel most at home with Ukrainian traditions surrounding me. My family, friends, and I were pleased to share ethnic meals with George, talk about "the old country" practices, share discussions about pysanky, studentetz, kutia, etc., do a couple of local trips, and certainly share a lot of laughs.

My last conversation with George was to call and say "Христос народжується" and though he was not feeling well at all, he tried to make light of his situation and wished me a Merry Ukrainian Christmas. Then we received word of his passing on the Orthodox New Year..... He will definitely be missed!!!

We will remember George for his sense of humour and his infectious laugh. I have alot of fun memories of him in my high school class and our lunch hours at school which were a high light of our day and never boring. He was a very caring guy. Our sympathy to the Swistelnicki family and our thoughts and prayers are for you at this time.
