We regret to announce the passing of our dear mother Cécile at the age of 93. Cécile passed away on February 19th in St. Paul after a brief struggle with complications post hip replacement.

She is predeceased by her husband John-Henry and is survived by their children Monique of Edmonton, Colette (Doug Hamilton) of Sylvan Lake, Jean-Paul (Danielle Douchet) of Grande Pairie and grand-children Peter and Emily Cook-Bielech. She is predeceased by her second husband Howard Cook and all her siblings: Élisée (Mac) Mailloux, Maurice Mailloux, Marthe Belliveau, Pauline Bédard and Gérard (Pete) Mailloux.

Cécile was born in St. Paul. She started teaching in St. Vincent, then in Mallaig and Edmonton. While continuing her long career in teaching, she received her B.Ed from the U of A and was the librarian at the St. Paul Regional High School until her retirement in 1986.

Mom loved the outdoors and gathering family and friends at the cottage on St. Vincent Lake, especially for July 1st. Many outings involved berry picking with friends and family with Cécile intent on finding the ultimate strawberry/blueberry patch.

Always interested in history, she was a long time volunteer at the Musée Historique St. Paul Historical Museum and helped publish “Du Passé au Présent and Past”, stories of the families in the St. Paul area. There was a life-long passion with books and she volunteered with the St. Paul Library in its early days. Favourite hobbies were bridge, card/board games and she appreciated being able to continue playing these at Sunnyside Manor; music was always a big part of life. Keeping busy with various crafts, family and friends appreciated the many fine hand-knit sweaters she produced.

Funeral Mass Thursday, March 19th, 2020 at 11:00am, St. Paul Cathedral, St. Paul,AB.

We were so blessed to have had her be such a vital part of our lives for so long.
Tu seras toujours dans nos souvenirs.

Thank you to the staff of Sunnyside Manor for the excellent care provided in her later years and also to Wendy RN and Dr. Woytiuk in Critical Care.

~Respectfully, the Bielech family
