Obituary for Russell Arthur Manning

Print
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Russell Arthur Manning on Saturday September 8, 2018 in Bonnyville, Alberta, with family by his side. He was 81 years old, born in Toronto, ON, on December 30, 1936. The only child of Russell Sr. and Emily (nee Lines) Manning, Russ leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Leslie (Bob) Peterson of Vancouver, BC and Teri Manning (Woody Kumpula) of Rich Lake, AB. He is predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Ruth Manning (nee Sainsbury), his high school sweetheart. Russ and Beth made their home in Mississauga, ON before moving to Calgary, AB in 1977 through his work at Carrier. He would later start his own locksmith business which he ran until he retired. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending summers with family and friends at the Muskoka cottage, built by his parents in the 1940s. He had a passion for reading and music, loved outdoor activities, cycling, great food, wine and spending time with his friends, daughters and his late wife Beth. Russ’ good humor, determination to make the best of situations and tenacity through the latter part of his life is an inspiration to those around him. Thanks to the amazing staff in the Continuing Care Unit at the Bonnyville Health Centre for their kindness and excellent care of Dad over the past years. If friends so wish to make a donation on Russ’ behalf please direct them to the Continuing Care Unit through the following link https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/bonnyville-health-foundation/ A celebration of life will be held 11am Saturday September 15, 2018 at the graveside in Glendale Memorial Gardens at 1810 Albion Road at Hwy 27 in Etobicoke.
Respectfully the Manning Family
